VIA Global Health and Revital Healthcare Forge New Distribution Partnership

Mombasa, Kenya, 6 January 2021 –

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated i
nequities in the global supply chain, particularly in lower-income countries which compete with higher-income countries for the same products.  In a recent World Health Organization survey, 90% of countries’ experienced disruption in essential health services and significant challenges in the supply of medical equipment and health products.

VIA Global Health, a global eCommerce platform focused on more equitable distribution of life-saving health products by serving buyers in low- and middle-income countries, experienced this inequity firsthand.  Lead times for ventilators and oxygen concentrators were so long and the VIA Customers didn’t have enough working capital to compete against customers from higher income countries.

Noah Perin, CEO of VIA Global Health, recalls how the introduction to Revital Healthcare, a Kenya-based manufacturer of healthcare products, could not have come at a better time for VIA Global Health.

“We realized that we needed to accelerate our efforts to partner with manufacturers in the markets we serve, to foster greater self-reliance in Africa, and to ensure that our distribution platform and logistic services connect suppliers and buyers in a more efficient and cost-effective way,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be working with Revital Healthcare, their track record and adherence to quality standards in developing products to meet ISO standards and the needs of UNICEF and World Health Organization are exactly the kinds of partners we are looking for- and to bring their products to more customers through our platform is central to our business and impact goals.”

Revital Healthcare (EPZ) Ltd., is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in the Mombasa, Kenya, and employs over 400 people, 80% of whom are women.  Revital manufacturers over 35 medical disposable products such as Re-Use Prevention Syringes, Auto-Disabled Syringes, Immunization Syringes, Blood Collection Tubes, PPE Kits, Viral Transport Medium Kits and other medical supplies. The company’s existing distribution channel reaches 14 countries in Africa and serves over 6 government agencies. Revital has been accredited by WHO-PQS ISO 14001, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, CE-TUV (Germany) and is also WHO-GMP compliant.

“At Revital, we always are looking to the future with ambition and hope, scaling production, expanding product lines, and continuing our adherence to the highest quality standards.  This partnership with VIA Global Health will open up additional distribution channels within and outside Africa, and will help Revital realize our impact more broadly” says Roneek Vora, Director of Sales at Revital.

VIA Global Health’s sales and distribution network was recognized and recently received funding support by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Scalability, sustainability, and universal access to life-saving technologies are central to both companies’ business model and commitments to universal health care; this new partnership is one of the silver-linings of the dark COVID-19 cloud.
