Key Features
The LifeWrap NASG has been delivered to dozens of countries with potential to be used on hundreds of thousands of women to manage complications with postpartum hemorrhage. The LifeWrap NASG has been widely delivered by VIA and used by providers throughout Africa, South Asia and Latin America, where maternal death rates remain high.
Usability
With minimal training, frontline health providers are able to successfully apply the garment to the bleeding patient. Once the mother’s bleeding is controlled, she can be safely transported to a hospital for obstetric care.
Reusable Quality
The LifeWrap NASG has been independently tested for up to 144 uses, putting the LifeWrap NASG at the forefront of quality and reusability.
Patient Accessibility
Importantly, the NASG does not need to be removed for uterine examinations or vaginal procedures, with the abdominal part only being opened for abdominal surgery. The patient’s vital signs often immediately improve upon application.
Transportable
LifeWrap NASG is lightweight and easily folded and packed, and once in use can stabilize patients for up to three days while patients are transported to a health center with the ability to administer blood transfusions and provide definitive medical or surgical interventions.
Expert Developed
The manufacturer works closely with the UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) and the Safe Motherhood Program and particularly with Dr. Suellen Miller, the leading global NASG expert and advocate of the LifeWrap NASG.
